Karen, having never kept fish before accept the regular goldfish in a bowl, has been swept along with the flow and now hooked firmly by the fish bug has decided to set up and try a Ecosystem Miracle mud filter. The filter comes complete with miracle mud, bio-balls and a light source so that calerpa can be grown in the sump. After visiting a trade stand at a German show Karen was moved by the amazing claims of these filters that need No protein skimmer and No additives apart from a little calcium to help grow the Hard corals this will be the unfolding story of how the aquarium establishes itself and performs. Karen will be studying its progress and logging the water parameters through its maturation and into we hope a successful reef. (By the way I have been told in no uncertain terms to Keep My Hands Out ,He He)

Karen has setup a Rena Aquarium which she has had drilled and added a double weir to with the ecosystem filter and a Tunze 3000 l/h pump to re-circulate the water. 2 more Tunze 4000 l/h pumps are placed into the aquarium one at each end and pulsed with a Tunze multi-controller, she has used a T5 lighting unit with 6 tubes as the light source. The aquarium was filled up with R/O water and Tropic Marine salt and it was run for 48 hours then Karen has placed some Fiji grade A living rock to seed it.

20/06/02 JUST AS IMPATIENT AS EVERYONE ELSE, THE WATER SEEMS GREAT SO KAREN HAS INTRODUCED HER FIRST FISH A 21/2 " YELLOW TANG, A LITTLE MORE LIVING ROCK WAS ALSO ADDED.

26/06/02 WATER ALL OK SO KAREN ADDED TWO MORE FISH ,1 ORCHID DOTTY BACK AND 1 TANGERINE STRIPED GOBY .ALSO 10 TURBO SNAILS.

30/06/02 KAREN ADDED SOME CORALS .1 X BLUE ANEMONE STONE, 1 X ORANGE PUSSY CORAL, AND 1 X PINK DENDROPHYLIA.

27/07/02 AFRICAN BLUE CORAL,2 X ANTHIAS ,ORANGE GORGONIAN ,ANTLER CRAB ADDED

JANUARY 2003 KAREN HAS DECIDED TO IMPROVE THE FLOW AROUND THE AQUARIUM WE HAVE NOW INSTALLED A EGG CRATE SHELF FOR THE ROCKS TO SIT ON ,SO MAKING THE SPRAY BAR AT THE BACK MORE EFFICIENT.

WITH THE GREAT SUCCESS KAREN HAS HAD WITH THIS AQUARIUM SHE DECIDED TO SELL THIS SETUP AND IS NOW IN PROCESS OF SETTING UP A MUCH LARGER SHOW AQUARIUM. (3-09-03)

Here at last is the new aquarium Karen will be using for her Miracle mud System. 36" x 36" x 30" water height and around 150 gallons -follow the progress once again as another living Reef comes to life !
