TUNZE HARDNESS GRANULES

Hardness granules, over 99% CaCO3 (lime), grain size approx. 4 - 6 mm. For buffering the pH-value (it raises the carbonate hardness), whilst increasing the calcium content (Ca2+).

Because of the grain size and the exellent buffering capabilities, this media is ideal for all calcium reactors, allowing good water flow within the reactor.

TUNZE SYSTEM CALCIUM REACTOR

The SYSTEM calcium automat 1674/3 uses the same functional principle as the COMLINE calcium automat. It has a closed-loop pump circuit. The calcium automat enable the exchange of calcium in the aquarium without an additional water in-feed pump.
In case of correct demand-related dosing, the plant uses CO2 extremely economical and is highly effective.

Ready for mounting, without TS mounting bar, with hardness granules, bubble counter, and pump.

Marine aquariums with soft corals, stone corals, snails or calcareous algae need regular additives of calcium and bicarbonate ions. In 1989, TUNZE® Aquarientechnik was the first manufacturer to build a CO2 controlled calcium reactor. A pump is used to pass the water enriched with carbon dioxide through the hardness granulate. The carbon dioxide reacts with water to produce carbon dioxide gas and dissolves the calcium carbonate. The hardened water leaves the reactor through a control valve.
Today’s generation of automatic calcium reactors combine high efficiency and a compact size, consisting of a reactor with pump and the Comline housing. Calcium Automat 3170 needs no additional supply pump, and is operational with a minimum water level of 60 mm (2.3 in.). It is suitable for operation in the aquarium as well as in a cabinet filter. The set-up:
- Transparent reactor housing with pump and water distribution in one unit.
- Granulate content: 1,200 ml (42.2 fl. oz.).
- Comline housing for attachment and light protection for direct operation in the aquarium.
- Dissolution of the CO2 in the pump housing and recirculation of the undissolved gases permit an especially economical CO2 consumption.
- Easy refill of the granulate by a screw cover.
- Adjustment of the drip rate by means of a precise control valve.
- Can be used as a “stand-alone” solution.
- Silent operation.
For complete operational safety, we recommend the use of a CO2 controller 7074/2 fitted with a pH meter and CO2 valve. In this case the pH meter will control the infeed of CO2 in accordance with the setpoint value entered. The danger of excessively low pH values during the night is averted.
Delivery condition: Ready for mounting with hardness granulate, bubble counter, pump and holding device similar to Comline filter holder.

TUNZE CALCIUM REACTOR EXTENSION

The Calcium Automat 3170 can be supplemented with a second reaction stage. A Comline housing is fitted with an additional granulate chamber. They can be placed next to each other and can be connected with a hose.
- It increases the efficiency by about 20 per cent.
- It neutralises the carbon dioxide at the outlet of the reactor.
- It increases the granulate volume.
- It permits a higher throughput of water.

TUNZE CALCIUM DISPENSOR

The addition of lime water is another method to increase the calcium in saltwater aquariums. The calcium hydroxide is dissolved in a separate tank by means of the water jet of the metering pump in the osmotic regulator(s). The lime water is then released into the aquarium in small quantities in regular intervals. The calcium dispenser is fitted between the metering pump and the infeed hose. All TUNZE Osmolator, Osmomat and osmotic regulator sets can be used. The calcium dispenser can also be installed in every water storage tank. The dispenser tank should be topped up with calcium hydroxide every one to two weeks.
The calcium dispenser and the turbo calcium reactor can be combined well with each other. An especially well set pH stability is achieved during the day as well as at night. An increase in performance can be achieved for a larger consumption.
