REEF ADVANTAGE MAGNESIUM - SEACHEM

Reef Advantage Magnesium™ is a concentrated (80,000 ppm) optimized blend of magnesium, chloride, and sulfate salts designed to restore depleted levels of magnesium with minimal impact to the ionic ratios found in natural sea water.

Reef Advantage Magnesium™ contains no ammonia. This is a common contaminant in every liquid magnesium supplement on the market.

Severely depleted levels of magnesium (below 800 mg/L) can cause depressed pH levels and an inability to maintain proper calcium levels. The most frequent causes of magnesium deficiency are use of kalkwasser, frequent overdosing of a carbonate additive, or low levels in the salt mix itself. Kalkwasser, for instance, precipitates magnesium as magnesium hydroxide while excess carbonates precipitate it as magnesium carbonate. In both cases, this means that magnesium that was present in the water is now unavailable. Of the two, magnesium hydroxide and magnesium carbonate, the former is more problematic; it is extremely insoluble. Once magnesium has precipitated as magnesium hydroxide, it will never re-dissolve. Magnesium carbonate will re-dissolve; however, it does so slowly. So, while it will go back into solution, there will be a significant portion of time in which magnesium levels are depleted.

BEGINNER: Use 5 g (1 level teaspoon) per 80 L (20 gallons*) twice a week. Dissolve in at least 250 mL (1 cup*) of freshwater.

ADVANCED: Check magnesium level, then follow addition regimen above until magnesium is adjusted to 1200–1350 mg/L. Each 5 g/80 L will raise magnesium by about 5 mg/L. Amount or frequency can be adjusted, but do not exceed 25 g/80 L per day. Thereafter, use as required to maintain magnesium.

EXPERT: After determining the magnesium depletion rate, set up a continuous drip system. Use the following formula to determine how much to add to your top-off water: g=vm/80 (g=grams to add to top off water, v=volume of tank in litres, m=amount to raise magnesium in mg/L). For example, if you want to raise magnesium by 10 mg/L in a 200 litre tank, then you would add (200x10)/80=25 g into the top-off water. [For reference: 1 gallon*=3.8 litres, 5 g=1 teaspoon*].

DO NOT OVERDOSE: Excess magnesium may enhance the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not directly mix with any carbonate supplement. Best if magnesium & carbonate additives are added on alternate days or at least 30 minutes apart. Slight clumping of this product may be encountered but does not impact its use; any clumps will break up very easily.

REEF TRACE   10.00 , 600g

Reef Trace™ supplies a broad range of trace elements demonstrated to be necessary for proper reef health and growth. Trace elements are normally depleted by utilization, oxidation and precipitation. The latter two processes occur more rapidly than with other micronutrients. This makes it important to restore trace elements on a regular basis. Reef Trace™ may be used alone or in conjunction with Reef Plus™. Best results are obtained when both are used. Reef Trace™ is nitrate/phosphate free.

Replenishment of a number of trace elements is required to maintain an environment ideal for the growth and reproduction of marine life, but while the importance of trace elements has been recognized by aquarists for many years, the physiological reasons are not fully understood. The chemical elements in seawater are varied, and, likewise their addition to the aquarium in trace quantities has varied effects on a variety of saltwater plant and invertebrate species. In general, though, these elements are important for metabolic processes and pigment formation.

CLARITY - SEACHEM

Clarity™ is the ultimate clarifier for both fresh and saltwater. It employs an advanced polymeric flocculating agent that is both reef and plant safe. Clarity™ is the only clarifier on the market that does it all! Clarity™ will clear all types of clouding including, but not limited to, chemical clouding and particulate clouding (i.e. stirred up gravel bed). Freshwater and Marine. Plant and reef safe.

Many companies manufacture multiple products to clear up each type of cloudiness and each different environment (e.g. freshwater, marine, reef, etc.). Some companies have developed products that will clear most types of cloudiness, but their application requires two separate bottles of product. Clarity contains compounds that will clear all types of cloudiness in all environments. Clarity contains both precipitating and flocculating agents in the same bottle, enabling all types of cloudiness to be removed in one dose.

Use 1 capful (5 ml) for every 80 L (20 gallons*). In some situations the cloudiness may increase slightly after adding Clarity™, however this is normal and is a sign that Clarity™ is actively working. Rapid clarification will follow. In the case of chemical or particulate clouding clean filter floss or cartridge after tanks clears. (Note: The 2 & 4 L container’s cap is 10 ml)

STABILITY - SEACHEM

Stability® will rapidly and safely establish the aquarium biofilter in freshwater and marine systems, thereby preventing the #1 cause of fish death: "new tank syndrome". Stability® is formulated specifically for the aquarium and contains a synergistic blend of aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria which facilitate the breakdown of waste organics, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Unlike competing products, the bacteria employed by Stability® are non-sulphur fixing and will not produce toxic hydrogen sulphide. Stability® is completely harmless to all aquatic organisms as well as aquatic plants, thus there is no danger of over use. Stability® is the culmination of nearly a decade of research and development and represents the current state of the art in natural biological management.

PRIME - SEACHEM

Prime® is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime® removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime® converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank’s biofilter. Prime® may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime® detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. Prime® also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Prime® is non-acidic and will not impact pH. Prime® will not over activate skimmers. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water.

Nearly all companies manufacture a product that removes chlorine. None of those, however, can compare in quality, concentration, or effectiveness to Seachem’s flagship product: Prime®. Prime® is the second most concentrated dechlorinator on the market after our own aquavitro alpha™. A single 100 ml bottle will treat 1000 US gallons of tap water. Prime® will remove both chlorine and chloramines from municipal water supplies.

Prime® also contains a binder which renders ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate non-toxic. It is very important to understand how those two functions work together. All dechlorinators operate through a chemical process known as reduction. In this process, toxic dissolved chlorine gas (Cl2) is converted into non-toxic chloride ions (Cl-). The reduction process also breaks the bonds between chlorine and nitrogen atoms in the chloramine molecule (NH2Cl), freeing the chlorine atoms and replacing them with hydrogen (H) to create ammonia (NH3).

Typically, dechlorinators stop there, leaving an aquarium full of toxic ammonia! Seachem takes the necessary next step by including an ammonia binder to detoxify the ammonia produced in the reduction process.

Be very careful when purchasing water conditioners. If your municipality includes chloramines in the water supplies, a standard sodium thiosulfate dechlorinator is not enough. Prime® promotes the natural production and restoration of the slime coat rather than relying on artificial or non-native slime compounds. A further bonus for the reef hobbyist—Prime® will not over activate protein skimmers.

Use 1 capful (5 ml) for each 200 L (50 gallons*) of new water. This removes approximately 1 mg/L ammonia, 4 mg/L chloramine, or 5 mg/L chlorine. For smaller doses, please note each cap thread is approx. 1 ml. May be added to aquarium directly, but better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. Sulphur odour is normal. For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. To detoxify nitrite in an emergency, up to 5 times normal dose may be used. If temperature is > 30 °C (86 °F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use a half dose.

PHOSGUARD - SEACHEM

1 LTR SIZE

PhosGuard™ rapidly removes phosphate and silicate from marine and freshwater aquaria. It is not recommended for phosphate buffered freshwater. PhosGuard™ is highly porous for high capacity and bead-shaped for optimum water flow. It outperforms all competing products. 500 ml easily treats over 150 gallons

DIRECTIONS: For best results, PhosGuard™ should be placed so as to maximize the flow of water through it. It may be used in a canister filter, box filter, or any high flow area of a trickle filter. In some situations it may be necessary to use in a filter bag. Use 250 ml (~1 cup) for every 300 L (75 gallons*). Leave product in place for 4 days, then test phosphate or silicate concentrations with a good test kit. If the concentration of the component you are trying to decrease has not dropped to around 0.02 mg/L, then replace the PhosGuard™, otherwise leave in place until levels begin to climb again. As long as concentrations remain under control, the product is not exhausted. Each 500 ml of PhosGuard™ treats over 600 L (150 gallons*) (i.e. will remove up to 30 mg/L phosphate in 600 L (100 gallons*) of water, depending on the initial phosphate/silicate concentrations and the current biological load. Over treating is not recommended. PhosGuard™ is not an exchange resin; it does not release anything into the water. It does not leach phosphate or silicate back into the water and may be removed, dried, and returned to service until exhausted. Continuous use of small quantities is better than intermittent use of larger quantities.
